February 25, 1945 - August 31, 2021
Lois Ann (Peterson) Greenzweig, 76, of Bad Axe, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021. She was born February 25, 1945 in Ferndale to Raymond and Eunice (Crooker) Kitt. Eventually the family settled in rural Marlette, where she attended Eagle Country School, and subsequently Marlette Community Schools, graduating in 1963. She lived in Bad Axe for many years and was well-known as the spunky and funny waitress at Pat's Restaurant, The Steakhouse and the RoundTable. Later she was a CNA at both Huron and Sanilac County Medical Facilities, from which the latter she retired. Lois spent her retirement years back in the Marlette area closer to her sisters, whom she loved so very much. She also spoke fondly of her niece and nephews Shari, Mike, Randy and Raymond. She was proud of her British and Canadian heritage, which was reflected in her love of tea and an antique teapot collection. Lois looked forward to the annual Midland Antiques Festival with the group of her sisters, nieces and daughters. She also found joy in quilting, knitting, weekly BINGO, bowling and watching cable news channels. She spent her lifetime loving and spoiling cats. Always an avid reader, it was common for her to have a book in her hand, the TV on, and her cat, Emma, on her lap. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Annette (Bob) Briolat of Ubly and Debra (Gene) Polega of Grindstone City; 2 step-daughters: Michelle (Dave) Goniwiecha of Ruth, and Deborah (Rod) of Emmett; 3 sisters: Ruth(Lloyd) Maynard, Marlette, Grace (Don) Fraleigh, Brown City, and Eunice May, Marlette; 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren: Erica (Dave) Vickers, Florida, Kimberly (Ryan) McCann, Freeland, Justin (Jenni) Koglin, Rapson, Cam (Mya) Koglin, Caro, Nick Polega, Royal Oak, and Noah Polega, Royal Oak; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her friendship and laughter will be missed by her BINGO and Woodworth Square friends, and by many nieces and nephews who were all dear to her. Predeceasing Lois were her parents, Raymond Kitt and Eunice (Crooker) Kitt. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial/Celebration-of-Life service will be held at Veteran's Waterfront Park Pavillion, Port Austin, Michigan on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. A light luncheon will be provided. Casual dress is encouraged for attendance. Memorial gifts may be offered directly to the family for discretionary use, to HISD (Huron Intermediate School District) for rural school reading programs, or North Branch Library. Special acknowledgement to sisters Eunice, Grace and Ruth, who for their lifetime have never ceased to be a source of comfort, advice, love and guidance to Lois, and always to her daughters, Annette and Debbie. Especially during this grieving period, the continued compassion and support is appreciated. Also, special acknowledgement to niece Shari (Mike) Miller and nephews, Randy and Raymond Miller for the years of immersing Lois into your family. Obituary lovingly submitted by the family.
